A group of wise men gathered to discuss the work of God; they wanted to know why he had left it to the sixth day to create man.
âHe thought about first organizing the Universe well, so that we could have all the marvels available to us,â said one of them.
âFirst of all He wanted to run some tests on animals, so that He would not make the same mistakes with us,â argued another.
One wise Jew showed up at the meeting. They told him the theme of the discussion: âin your opinion, why did God leave it to the last day to create man?â
âVery simple,â commented the wise man. âSo that when we were moved by pride, we would remember that even a simple mosquito enjoyed priority in the work of the Divine.â

Paulo Coelho is a Brazilian author who has sold more than 100 million books, which include 14 short story collections and the novel "The Alchemist." He has been a fan of the Internet since the early 1990s. He spends at least three hours a day online, writing e-mails back and forth with his readers and posting photos on Flickr, MySpace and a blog.
